MURAL #6

Inspiration

The inspiration for the mural are the brilliant Sunsets over the Carolina Beach Marina. The Marina is a gem on our island. Sunsets over the Marina delight all those who are lucky enough to experience them. They never get old. TripAdvisor has thousands of fans who photograph and post CB Marina photos with brilliant sunsets dancing off the boats and water. With the Marina being updated and refreshed, this mural will celebrate the importance of fishing, boating excursions and life on the water in Carolina Beach. This mural is partially sponsored by TipTop Frame and Savannah Inn (in-kind).

Artist

Gina Elizabeth Franco was born in 1981 and is a full-time artist living and working in North Carolina.

Currently, Franco’s practice focuses on painting murals and other public art. From a very young

age she doodled on anything and everything. As an adult her obsession with doodling has

evolved into her picking up a can of spray paint and expressing herself on walls.

Franco’s art varies from project to project. These days she can be found interacting with the

public, focusing on place-making projects that activate walls and underused spaces. The goal of

these projects is to encourage residents and visitors to interact with the space and share their

experience via social media.

Aside from her featured works in her hometown of Greensboro, NC, Franco has recently been

awarded public art commissions for Burlington, NC , Downtown Raleigh, North Carolina and the

city of Gibsonville, North Carolina.

Location

The Savannah Inn is a cozy beach front inn located in the heart of Carolina Beach.  This west facing brick wall is located at The Savannah Inn,  316 Carolina Beach Avenue, North.  The wall measures 25' wide and approximately 18' high.

Reveal Date

"This Must be The Place" is the title of Mural #6, to be installed at Savannah Inn September 5- September 10.  Follow us on FB  @cbmurals and INSTA @carolina_beach_murals for all information.
