Celeste is originally from eastern North Carolina and has enjoyed many summers throughout her life coming to the Wilmington area. She retired to Carolina Beach in 2020 after over 25 years with UNC TEACCH Autism Program in Chapel Hill, NC. Currently, she is a member of the Island Women literacy committee. She is also a member of the NC Oyster Trail committee with the NC Coastal Federation. J R and her husband moved to Carolina Beach in 2008 leaving the hustle and bustle of the Northeast (NY and NJ) to be near the sea. At that time all she needed was the internet and an airport, both of which she used often to manage a busy life as a Crisis Management consultant.
Her love of art was left behind during most of her adult life, but Carolina Beach brought back the desire to reinforce the power of her right brain. The calmness of living in Carolina Beach as well as the charm of the town has been cathartic over the years.
The creation of the mural project celebrates both the history and beauty of Carolina Beach and the changes the murals have brought is impressive. J R is excited about being able to support the mural committee to further inspire people to enjoy the journey through and to our town.

She’s making super bright and boisterously loud marks on this world as she paints her way through it. She believes that we have to build the world we want to live in.
