"CB Catch of the Day" celebrates the sport of fishing in Carolina Beach. With miles upon miles of sand beaches along the Crystal Coast, you'll find Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, Bass, Sea Mullet, Spot, Speckled Trout, Red and Black Drum, Pompano, Stingrays and more just a good cast away. The high season for surf fishing is from May to October, but the sport can be enjoyed year-round. It is the Artist’s choice as to feature fish indigenous to CB waters, the fishing boats, and recreation fun. This mural is a vinyl installation on the ice trailer that faces Stoked Restaurant and our newly renovated Marina. Funded in part by Shane Snow and the Carolina Beach Inlet Association, this piece of Public Art will add some fun photo ops to Canal Drive.
Forrest Van Keuren
Forrest Van Keuren is a proud resident of Carolina Beach. Drawing and painting have been hobbies since he was a kid in grade school. "Today I still lose myself in the process of creating my artwork. The preferred medium for my paintings is acrylics. These tend to give me the control I desire to enhance the details of my subject matter."
The beautiful Carolina coast is the inspiration for Forrest's artwork. The diversity of wildlife and breathtaking scenery provide this talented Artist with plenty of content. “CB Catch of the Day'' showcases fishing which is another pastime Forrest enjoys. When people view his art, Forrest wants them to admire the beauty of nature and be encouraged to protect its wonders for future generations.
