MURAL #17 "KRAKEN"

Inspiration

"KRAKEN" will be installed at 300s Lake Park Blvd. This mural celebrates the magical Octopus.   Octopuses are symbols of intelligence, flexibility, adaptability, illusion and evasion. They represent the fact that the brain can trump brawn if appropriately used. They also represent unpredictability, unpredictability and adaptability.

Artist Bio

Jill Webb-

was born in California.  She lived in Japan for a few years, then Atlanta, and now lives in Wilmington, NC with her husband and two kids.  She went to UNC Chapel Hill.  She worked in the film business for a while, but now works as a muralist, designer and mom.  One of Jill's most noteworthy works was installed in the renovated ILM Airport- the Terrazzo Loggerhead Labyrinth.

"KRAKEN" is partially sponsored by Greg, Michelle and Sofia Ghia.

Location

Mural #17 will be installed on three different walls of the Dry Dock Inn, 300 S. Lake Park Blvd.

The story behind this mural

When the CB Mural Project published the RFP for the Dive wall, we received some amazing submissions. Jill's original concept resonated with the Board, but the wall called for color and Jill's proposal was an elegant black and white print. We all agreed that when the right wall was available, we would ask Jill to paint her "KRAKEN" on it. Dry Dock Inn provides the perfect backdrop to Jill's creative vision.

Installation Date

This mural will be installed in April of 2024. Follow us on INSTA and FB for updates and information on the unveiling fundraiser.
